Why I Wrote This Book

Here’s the thing. Most AI books are written for engineers, data scientists, or tech insiders. But that’s not who’s being disrupted the most. It’s the rest of us, the entrepreneurs running small businesses, the knowledge workers trying to stay relevant, the creators watching AI generate content faster than they ever could, the parents wondering what careers will even exist for their children.

When I was at Alibaba, I watched entire industries reshape overnight. Not because of some distant technological revolution, but because AI started doing what humans used to do, only faster, cheaper, and at scale. And that was years ago. Today, the acceleration is exponential.

I wrote this book because I believe the rewards of the AI age shouldn’t just belong to the top 1% of tech-savvy individuals or corporations. They should be accessible to anyone willing to learn, experiment, and think critically.

People ask me why is there a bee on your cover? The two items couldn’t be further away from each other. But bees are like AI. Hear me out.

Behold the humble bee.

Do you ever feel like you’ve been so busy, but at the end of the day, felt like you didn’t accomplish much? In my years of working in a corporate sphere, I have felt that feeling. I felt like a busy bee. A whole day would go by with back-to-back meetings and then at the end, I’ve scribbled up so many pages of notes that now take me more time to decipher and parse. It seems like now the real work begins. We weren’t taught the smart way to approach work. We weren’t taught to use our energy at the right places. So by the end, we feel burnt out. This book’s aim is to teach you how to approach work differently, so that you are no longer the busy bee, with a million things to do, but instead a beekeeper, someone that controls the “bees” to get what you want.

In a strange way, a bee is kind of like a node in an AI neural network. No one node does everything. And similarly, bee colonies have a clear division of labor. The queen lays eggs, drones (males) mate with the queen, and worker bees (females) do everything else, cleaning, foraging, caring for larvae, and protecting the hive. Each is narrow and fragile on its own, but together they produce intelligence greater than the sum of their parts. Similarly, an AI assistant’s role is narrow and specialized, but when linked with millions of nodes, the network can learn language, recognize images, or generate creative work.

That’s what this book is about; transforming you, the reader, from being the busy bee to a keeper of bees. It’s a muscle we are all trying to develop. It’s something we must learn during a time with an explosion in intelligence.
